Albany Relay For Life Car Show

A few of the Cumberland River Cruisers attended the Albany Relay For Life Car Show on Sunday. The rainy weather had caused the event to not be held on Saturday and the turnout was lower because of the show being on Sunday. They made the best of a bad situation and still had a fairly good showing.

Two CRC Club Members, Craig Coe and Jackie Booher, won trophies for their respective entries.

April 28th CRC Meeting

The CRC members spent most of the monthly meeting preparing for the car show on Saturday. We numbered over 30 door prizes and even had to rework two of the trophies. After the replacement of two of the items on the two largest trophies, they were ready for presentation.

NAPA - CRC 2011 Spring Car Show & Swap Meet

This weekend, April 30th was the NAPA-Cumberland River Cruisers Spring Car Show and Swap Meet at the Park in Burkesville, KY. The Swap Meet opened it's doors at 7 AM and individuals could sell their car related items for a $10 Setup Fee. The 2011 Spring Car Show began registering cars a little before 10 AM.

There were booths selling food for breakfast and later in the day another group was selling hotdogs, chips and drinks.

There was NO ENTRY FEE and Free Dash Plaques were given to the first 100 vehicles registered.

There were 120 vehicles that registered and about 30 others that chose not to register and didn't want to be voted on for the trophies. Anybody that attended the event was able to vote for their top 3 choices for Best Of Show.

Voting ended at 3 PM and those ballots were collected and tabulated. The Generations band began playing music at 3 PM. When Generations took their break, the Cruisers took over and there were drawings for several nice door prizes and then the Top 20 vehicles were announced and their owners presented trophies.

There was a Long Distance Trophy awarded to a family that drove down from Evansville, IN the day of the show.

The Best Of Show Trophy was then presented. Finally, half of the 50/50 Prize Money was given away. Generations resumed playing and the club members began packing up our stuff. We had very little trash to pick up as the attendees of the event had really kept the park clean.

The Cumberland River Cruisers would like to thank NAPA and especially Robert Hay for the support and sponsorship of the Spring 2011 Car Show and Swap Meet. We hope we can work together in the future and the event will grow even larger to bring more people into Burkesville.
The Cruisers would also like to thank the Burkesville/Cumberland County Events Committee for their sponsorship of the music for our event and thanks to Citizen’s Bank and James Long for the use of the stage.
Thanks to WKYR Radio for promoting the event.
We want to thank First Place Trophies of Albany for the nice trophies they put together for our show and for donating the Long Distance Trophy and the Best of Show Trophy.
Our club also wishes to thank the various merchants in town that have donated merchandise and money to help provide the door prizes that were presented to those participating in the car show.
Thanks to the Cumberland River Cruiser club members that helped with the logistics of running the event.
Thanks to everyone for attending and making it the largest car show or cruise-in ever in Burkesville, KY!
The Cruisers hope everyone enjoyed the event and will participate to make the next one even better.
