Independence Celebration & Cruise-In

The Burkesville Chamber of Commerce sponsored an Independence Celebration at the park in Burkesville, KY. They asked the Cumberland River Cruisers to have a car show and cruise-in during the events on Saturday, July 3rd.
The CRC Cruise-In & Car Show registration began at 11 AM. There were free dash plaques and pictures taken of the registered vehicles.

The Cruisers sold club and souvenir shirts and gave away grab bags of items that had been donated from sponsors, such as Cash Express, Citizen's Bank, Corvette Museum, DC Auto Service, First & Farmer's Bank, Fred's, State Farm and Strange Bait.

Anyone attending the car show and cruise-in could vote for their top 5 favorite vehicles on ballots supplied by the Cruisers during the day. The Cruisers had acquired several small prizes and gave those away to random drawing winners beginning at 4 PM. The "People's Choice" voting was closed at that time.

At 4:30 the votes had been tabulated to determine the trophy winners and the Best of Show winner. All the trophy winning vehicles were brought to the same area with the trophies still in a wagon before the places were announced. The top 5 places as voted by the people attending the event were announced and received trophies and the Best of Show trophy also was awarded to the vehicle receiving the most points from the "People's Choice" voting. You can find the results of the voting in this Votes.pdf.

First, there was a trophy awarded for the vehicle from Cookeville, TN that had traveled the longest distance to attend.

Red Thrasher's Dodge truck was next to receive an award.

Mark Capp's car number was announced, but he wasn't there to drive his 1968 Camaro to the awards area, so a picture was made later without him.

Marie Rowe's was the next entry announced for her 1965 original Impala.

Carol and Dave Neff were the owners of a very sharp Willy's awarded the next trophy.

Then Jimmy Patterson was the winner of a trophy for his beautiful Chevelle.

Truman Morgan's immaculate 55 Chevy convertible won the Best of Show trophy chosen by "people's choice" voting.

Citizen's Bank Celebration

Citizen's Bank held a celebration for their 10th anniversary in business Saturday evening. Several of the C-R-Cruisers were in attendance and a few had brought their cars and parked them in the bank's front parking lot.

Citizen's Bank employees were passing out free hot dogs, hamburgers and there were coolers of cold drinks for people to pick up a drink too. During the evening there were two musical groups that played music on a portable stage with a crowd of people setting under a tent and on the rear parking lot in their own lawn chairs.

When the musical groups would take breaks, there were ticket drawing for savings bonds and a flat screen TV was also given away. People were also playing Corn Hole in the drive up banking area. It looked like the crowd was between two and three hundred people while I was there.

Green River Kruzers' Columbia Car Show

A few of the Cumberland River Cruisers members went to the Green River Kruzers' "Run"dezvous XII 2010 Car Show at the fair grounds in Columbia. It had rained Saturday morning and the sky looked like it might rain again, so the turnout was lighter than normal.

CRC club members Red Thrasher, Brenda Smith, Carol & Dave Neff and Dave Norris all received trophies for each of their entries in the car show.

Many other participants also received trophies. The Kruzers also had a 50/50 drawing, gave away grab bags and dash plaques to all participants and had drawings for door prizes.

You can view all of the pictures at this LINK.
