CRC August 7th Cruise-In
Carol and Dave Neff were in town early sitting up things for the
cruise-in when Linda and I arrived. Julie and Sam Wait found a nice cool
corner of the square to register the cruisers and several other members
helped to get things setup as the cars began arriving. The temperature
was just a few notches under 90 degrees at 3 PM. Some pictures of the
cars that haven't been to the Cruisin' The Square cruise-in are below.

that includes club members' cars. We drew for door prizes at 4 PM and
again at 4:30 PM and gave away everything we had for prizes. At 5 PM, we
let Julie Norris, age 3, draw the winning ticket out of the jug for the
50/50 drawing and presented the money to the winner.

Car Show Part of Bicentennial Celebration
In October, the town of Burkesville is celebrating it's 200th birthday.
The schedule of events is still tentative and times maybe changed as
needed.
The Burkesville Bicentennial Celebration will begin on
Thursday, October 21st, 2010 and continue until Sunday October 24th. The
first event Thursday evening will be a beauty pageant at 6 PM. Friday
evening at 8 PM there will be a Sock Hop on the Court House Square with
a cruise-in of old cars to be parked all around the square. Saturday the
Burkesville Bicentennial Celebration Car Show 2010, which will be held
at the J&D Restaurant, will begin registering vehicles at 10 AM and will
continue until 2 PM. Their trophy presentations are scheduled for 4 PM.
There is also a parade planned to begin at 10 AM on Saturday. Sunday's
festivities begin with a ceremony for veterans at 10 AM, church services
and a dinner at noon in the shelter house with gospel music being played
on the stage area. There are many more events being planned and these
are just a few that might be of interest to club members. A tentative
schedule is listed in the right column of this page.
