September Cruise-In
Saturday the weather was beautiful for the CRC Cruise-In. The traffic
was heavy around the square in Burkesville with boats and motor homes
headed to the lake and camp grounds, but the turnout for the cruise-in
was low because of it being a holiday weekend and club members were out
of town or busy with friends and family. We had enough cars that the
visitors driving by noticed our club was having a cruise-in though. Some
of the cars that attended are shown in pictures below.

We
would like to thank the guys and gals from Russell Springs, KY that made
the cruise down to Burkesville.
Thanks for coming down!

Blue Grass Festival & Drive-n-Park
The Burkesville Blue Grass Festival is being held on Saturday, September
18th and our members have been asked to cruise-in and park their
vehicles at the walking track inside the park.
If you plan on
attending, try to have you vehicles there by 10 AM. It is strictly a
"Drive-n-Park" event. There will be no trophies, no door prizes and no
music provided by the Cumberland River Cruisers. It will be a nice place
to park your car while watching the shows and listening to the music.![]()
After
2 PM, several members are planning a road trip to Russell Springs to
attend a Ol' Boys
Toys cruise-in. The "ol boys" have brought their vehicles to our
"Cruisin-The Square" events several times and it would be nice if we
could make a good showing by having several members and their vehicles
at one of their events. A possible route to Russell Springs and back to
Burkesville is below. If you don't make it to the Blue Grass Festival,
but want to ride over to Russell Springs, meet at the park in
Burkesville by 2 PM.

Cruising To Russell Springs
The Bluegrass Festival had invited the CRC members to cruise-in
and park our cars inside the fence during the festival.![]()
Several
members also showed up to drive to Russell Springs for the Ol
Boys Toys Cruise-In behind Sonic Drive In Restaurant. We formed a
line and left the festival around 2:15 PM. We rode east on KY 90, then
took curvy KY 127 north across the Wolf Creek Dam through the rolling
countryside. We passed through the edge of Jamestown KY and then into
Russell Springs. As we pulled into the parking lot, members of Ol Boys
Toys greeted us and pointed out locations for parking. They also let us
know they were cooking free hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone that
attended the cruise-in. We spread out and roamed through the rows of
vehicles at our own pace after registering. Eventually, we gathered
together under the awning at Sonic and were talking while enjoying a
cold drink.![]()
As
the sun was getting lower in the sky, we moved back to our lawn chairs
near the cars and waited for the drawings. Julie and Sam Wait were the
first club members to be drawn for a door prize, then Marie and Weldon
Rowe's ticket number was drawn. The Ol Boys continued drawing for door
prizes until they announced the Top Five cars. The drivers brought their
vehicles to the announcers tent and were presented trophies. The
announcer then called Carol and Dave Neff as the Peoples Choice Winner
for their Willy's. They drove to the tent and were presented a nice
plaque.![]()
The
pictures of some of the vehicles at Ol
Boys Toys September Cruise-In at Russell Springs are HERE.
After
the presentations, we folded up our chairs and everyone headed back
towards Burkesville.
