Linda's 1965 Mustang Convertible
Linda
Norris - 1965 Mustang Convertible
Linda's first car was a
1965 Mustang Convertible, so when she found another 65 convertible for
sale, she bought it, even though it was rough and needed work.![]()
She
started by having a local mechanic fix some of the minor mechanical
problems. He managed to repair some of the malfunctioning items so that
Linda was able to drive the car for the summer. During the winter, Linda
had her brother come and pick up the car and take it to his house to do
some major repairs. He fixed a lot of the body damage, painted the car
and replaced a timing chain and carb on the 200 cid six cylinder engine.
He returned the car on a visit the next summer. Linda has purchased a
new CD radio and kick panels with speakers, you know you have to listen
to tunes when cruising in a convertible. She also has bought new seat
belts, a dash pad, carpet, hub caps with spinners and some other minor
upgrades.
Since
owning the car, we joined the Cumberland River Cruisers car club and
have been driving it to the cruise-ins that the club has been holding.
Our son, Brent, drove it to the last cruise-in with his daughter, Julie,
in the back seat and our daughter, Stacey, riding along too.![]()
We
enjoy the car, but still have plans to try to make it more dependable in
the future. We are looking for a six cylinder engine to rebuild so that
we can just change out the old engine for a newly rebuilt engine.

Chris Miller's 1950 Pontiac
Chris
Miller - 1950 Pontiac
My Dad owned a 1950 Pontiac about 60
years ago.![]()
I
have always wanted one just like it, so when I saw this car, I had to
have it.![]()
I
bought the car 4 years ago in Burkesville, KY and it has been an on the
wheels kind of restoration. The engine is a straight eight 264.8 cid and
it puts out 108 horsepower. Along with the straight eight is a 3 speed
hydramatic transmission, that combination was last made in 1954. The car
was made entirely in the USA and when new, it cost $1,908.![]()
The
car has 65,000 miles on the odometer and there is still a lot to do. The
interior needs some attention, there are a few pieces of chrome that
needs replating and the paint needs a little work, but the car is a real
pleasure to drive and a lot of fun on sunny days.
Thanks,
Chris
